About Us

Admit it, you have been inspired at least once in your life when you click on the tempting recipes you see on the internet. Who do you send a snapshot of a delicious looking plate of food to? Whether it is savory dish or a sweet treat there is someone you share it with. We are a brother and sister team that has spent countless hours doing just that. You might think we are exaggerating. If you have had similar discussions with your own favorite foodie then you know where we are coming from. Sometimes we discuss the recipe for our next meal, and sometimes we are planning a week or two ahead. The conversations usually begin from a recipe seen in or on the cover of one of our favorite magazines or just surfing the internet.

We are not professional chefs, but have spent many weekends together recreating the wonderful delights that have been so graciously shared. Some have been more successful than others. All have fueled our passion for food, cooking and, even more so, brought our families together to share all the love and laughter.

How often have you wanted to try one of these recipes but felt you would not have the time or feared the outcome? We came up with the idea to create Lets Cook That to test recipes out for you. We will make the dishes following the recipes, document the experience and show you the outcome. By the way, we are also not professional writers or photographers and will try to convey our passion for food in the best way we can. Feel free to make us your favorite foodie and share a recipe that inspired you. Who knows, we may just shoot a cooking video based on the recipe you submit.

Celi Balshem

Celi Balshem is a stay at home mom with three kids.  Her passion for cooking began when she was just a little girl.  Celi dreams of going to culinary school and owning a goat farm with her husband, Eugene. She hopes to spend her days making cheese.  Yes, cheese, she loves cheese.

Why did you want to start a food blog? “Food for me is what brings everyone together.  One of my greatest pleasures is to see everyone sit around my table eating, drinking and laughing.  When you’re surrounded by so much happiness you just want to share it.”

Describe your cooking style. “I cook from my heart.  When I feel that things are not going my way, I listen to my gut and it always seems to work out.”

What are your biggest cooking challenges? “Creativity, I wish I had more of an artistic point of view to my cooking.  I think if I naturally had that skill it would take my cooking to another level and boost my confidence.”

What is your favorite recipe or dish? “Funny thing is my favorite thing to eat doesn’t need to be cooked.  I LOVE a cheese plate.  I love it so much I order it as my entree for dinner.  But, my favorite thing to cook would be anything braised.  There’s just something special about a protein slow cooked in so many layers of flavor that always comes out delicious.”

Who is the better cook? “Ha, my first instinct is to say me but realistically I think I am just a more experienced cook.  With that said, I think if Eddy had as much experience as I have he would be a better cook. He has an abundance of creativity. I blame that on the fact that he is older and sucked all the creativity from my mom.”

Eddy Fuente

Eddy Fuente is a computer geek by day and a foodie by night.  He gets to share his love of food with his wife, Donna, and four children.  Eddy’s recipes are known for creativity and “out of the box” ideas.

Why did you want to start a food blog? “That’s easy, I get to taste everything. I also get to play with new toys to pull it together.”

Describe your cooking style. “I think we all know a guy that will quickly glance through instructions when building a piece of furniture and then build it based on the photo. I’m that guy.”

What are your biggest cooking challenges? “Fine chopping. My hands are shaky, would you let anyone with shaky hands cut next to your fingers?”

What is your favorite recipe or dish? “This is probably the hardest question to answer. The first thing that popped into my mind was an image of garlic crusted rack of lamb.”

Who is the better cook? “She is by far, have you seen her finely chop garlic? All kidding aside, I truly think she is more of a well-rounded cook. However, in a couple of cooking challenge games we’ve done, it’s hard not brag a little.”
